Format Conversions
A s we drag and drop from email to a word
pr ocessor documents, and as we drag and drop
f rom a word processor document to an HTML
( HyperText Markup Language) web page, we
assum e that the copy and pasted information stays
t he same. The following text file shows why the
co py and pasted information never stays exactly
the same. Often the formatting is changed, and
no t infrequently, the text is also changed in the
r eformatting that occurs when one drags and
drops.

me dical records management. At the same time,
he has worked in product management for
hy pertext, for windows based user interface
s ystems, for computer displays, for engineering
dr awing, letter size, microform, and color
s canning, and for xerographic, photographic,
ne wspaper, engineering drawing, and color
printing.
I n addition, he has nine years of experience in data
ce nter operations and database and computer
co mmunications systems design, programming,
te sting, and software configuration management.
H e has an MLS Specialization in Information
S cience and an MBA with a concentration in
Co mputer and Information Systems from UCLA,
a Cal ifornia Adult Education teaching credential,
and a BA in Computer Science from the
U niversity of Wisconsin at Madison. His industry
ce rtifications include: the CDIA (Certified
D ocument Imaging System Architect) and the
A IIM Master (MIT), and AIIM Laureate (LIT), of
